Auckland City works closely with the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) to ensure that Auckland's rail stations and their surrounds are safe, accessible and amenable facilities.

ARTA is responsible for contracting passenger rail services in the Auckland region.

Auckland City Council is working hard to improve pedestrian and cycle access to rail services, and to improve short-term drop-off facilities as well as providing long-term 'park-and-ride' facilities and bus interchanges at major stations.
