Creative Industries Advisory Group
Desna Jury
Head of School of Art and Design, AUT
Desna Jury has led the School of Art and Design at Auckland University of
Technology since it became a university. She has spent most of her working life
in art and design education in teaching and management roles and has a
background in education with a particular focus on tertiary education policy.
Her research interests are in the creative industries and New Zealand design
history and culture.
She was a member of the Tertiary Education Commission's Design Education
Strategy Group and holds the Education Portfolio as a member of the Council of
the Designers' Institute of New Zealand (DINZ).
As Head of School, Desna is committed to providing students with a learning
environment which is innovative, current, and challenging, and which encourages
students to take the type of creative risks that their areas of study require.
She and her team have close links with industry who work with the school to
ensure AUT has relevant qualifications that meet the needs of employers.
