Completed business precinct plans
These are the business precinct plans that have been completed across
Auckland city.
Rosebank
The Rosebank business precinct is a dynamic and highly successful production
and employment zone within Auckland city with concentrations of activity in the
manufacturing, wholesale, construction, transport and storage, and property and
business services sectors.
The area is a key manufacturing location for Auckland city. In recent years,
a number of businesses have relocated to the area from the CBD and CBD fringe. A
number of these businesses have been engaged in high value-added manufacturing,
distribution, product development and advanced business services.
The Rosebank
2030 business precinct plan is a plan to retain and grow existing
companies, attract new businesses and generate more employment opportunities in
the precinct. The plan has been developed after extensive research, analysis and
consultation, council has issued Rosebank 2030 to Rosebank businesses,
landowners and other interested stakeholders.
Adopted in May 2008, Rosebank 2030 provides the framework and support
for the renewal and ongoing development of the precinct.
Rosebank 2030 is the first business precinct plan to be developed for one
of Auckland city's dedicated business areas.

Tamaki Innovation Precinct
The Tamaki business area contains a mixture of different, mainly industrial,
business uses. Employment is low density and since 2000 has grown more slowly
than in other business areas of the Auckland region.
There is significant opportunity for the Tamaki business area to transition
over time to a higher value business location for advanced manufacturing, high
tech and supporting business activities and become an 'innovation precinct'.
The proposed precinct vision for 2030 is:
"The Tamaki Innovation Precinct is recognised internationally as New
Zealand's sustainable centre of technological innovation and a hub of its
knowledge economy."
The three key objectives for the precinct are:
- economic revitalisation - ensuring that the Tamaki Innovation Precinct
acts as a catalyst for transforming New Zealand's economy
- strong partnerships -building strong relationships with key partners
- sustainable and integrated development - ensure that planning and
development of the precinct is aligned and consistent with a sustainable and
integrated design outcome.
The council is currently developing the precinct plan and once the draft plan
is complete will make it available for public feedback.

Penrose
Initial research, scoping and analysis have been undertaken on
the wider business area located in the southeastern edge of the city. This
analysis will help inform the development of a precinct plan for Penrose.
The study area for this precinct plan will be situated near
the rail station, as it is envisioned that this is where significant future
employment growth will be located.
