Introduction
The ICT sector has been
identified by the New Zealand Government as an important business sector for
the country and the Auckland region.
ICT is a high value, high
growth sector with export potential and requires skilled workers.
ICT infrastructure allows New Zealand businesses, people and government access
to ICT services and information.
Recognising the important contribution the ICT industry makes to the city's
economy Auckland City Council is a sponsor of the
Auckland ICT Cluster.
The cluster aims to increase the capability of members through member networks
with those with knowledge of IP, commercialisation issues and learning based
events.
Auckland City Council works with industry groups and organisations like
New
Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and
Auckland Plus to support the sustainable development of the sector in
Auckland.
