ICT in Auckland

ICT is a key sector in the Auckland economy with over 2,500 businesses and over 18,000 employees.

The city accounts for over 80 per cent of regional ICT employment and over 40 per cent of national ICT employment.

Auckland has IT service, support and software development strengths that cover sub sectors such as

  • Health IT
  • Wireless technologies
  • Transport and logistics.

Successful export companies such as Orion Health, Simpl, and Rakon are based in Auckland. Multinationals like HP, SAP, IBM and Microsoft have offices here.
