Friendship cities
Auckland's friendship cities are similar to sister cities except they have a
historical connection to one area of the city and the programmes are typically
educational or cultural.
Auckland has two friendship cities:
| Shinagawa, bustling transport hub of Tokyo,
Japan and home to Sony and Canon |
| Tomioka, agricultural town on Honshu Island
and home to one of Japan's longest cherry tree boulevards. |
