Strategic environment

International partnerships are closely managed by the international relations team from Auckland City Council's Economic Development Group. They operate against a backdrop of documented local, regional and national plans reflecting common alignment:

  • the Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) includes the role of the Economic Development Group in enhancing the economic prosperity and international competitiveness of the city
  • the Auckland City Council Economic Development Strategy aims to create a globally and nationally connected economy
  • the Metro Project, implemented by Auckland Plus, aims to leverage international networks to increase regional business innovation and export strength
  • the Economic Transformation Agenda, led by the Ministry of Economic Development, articulates five themes; growing globally competitive firms, world-class infrastructure, innovative and productive workplaces, environmental sustainability and Auckland as an internationally competitive city.
