Overview
The 1998 strategy document is set
out in two parts:
- The first part contains the essence of the strategy including its vision,
values, desired outcomes and objectives
- The second part is a background document which explores the planning
context, the present situation, the key issues and basic concepts which underpin
the strategy.
Auckland City Council's transport
planning group prepared the cycle and walking strategy. A steering group was
convened to oversee the development of the strategy. A consultation group, made
up of cycle advocates, health, safety, enforcement, and education professionals,
was also formed to guide the development of the strategy.
Auckland City Council adopted the
cycle and walking strategy as council policy on cycling and walking issues and
accepted all of the
recommendations put forward.
