Proposed new parking time restrictions in Meadowbank
Proposed new parking time restrictions in Manapau, Purewa and Puroto Streets
We have
received requests to review existing on-street parking in Manapau, Purewa and
Puroto Streets in Meadowbank.
The proposed change is for 4-hour
(P240) parking restrictions, applicable from Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm.
The proposed restrictions intend to improve parking availability in these streets. Onsite observation
also revealed illegal parking on the corner of Manapau Road and Tahapa Cres. To
keep this location clear it is proposed to introduce a "No Stopping at all times
restriction".
Consultation closed Friday, 21 August
2009.
Consultation outcome
The results of our public consultation on this matter showed that the
majority of
consulted residents and commuters are not in favour of the proposal to install
time restricted parking.
For this reason, and in light of a number of
other factors raised by the community during consultation, the decision has been
made not to proceed with the proposal at this stage.
However, we will progress with
the installation of broken yellow lines at the intersection of Tahapa Crescent
and Manapau Street to highlight to motorists that it is illegal to park within
6m of the intersection.
We anticipate that the road markings will be installed
in late November 2009.
All other issues and suggestions provided as part of the
consultation feedback will be investigated accordingly.
