Complaints about parked vehicles
Auckland City has no jurisdiction over vehicles parked on private property.
Private property includes driveways, right of ways, private car parks, private
roads, church grounds, shopping malls etc. In
these cases you will need to contact the property owner directly.
Vehicles parked on public property can be given a parking infringement notice
if they are parked illegally. Examples of illegal parking include vehicles
parked
- on yellow lines
- obstructing the entrance to driveways
- in Permit Holders Only spaces without a permit
- dangerously parked abandoned vehicles
- on footpath
- between clearway signs
- illegally on bus stop
- all day on a "P" restriction and causing an obstruction
- on grass verge
- on a cycle path
If the vehicle is also compromising road safety, obstructing
traffic, or is parked in an area where it shouldn't be, it could be towed.
To make a complaint about an illegally parked vehicle please call
us, so that we can respond to your complaint before the
vehicle has moved on. Keep in mind, we can only act on your complaint while the
vehicle is still on site.
If your vehicle might have been towed
If you think your vehicle might have been towed from public property please call
us with the following details:
- the registration and make of your vehicle

We can then confirm whether your vehicle has been
towed, and if so - where you can collect it from.
