Welcome to Auckland City Council's vision for transforming Tiverton Road and Wolverton Street. This important project will strengthen the connection between Auckland and Waitakere cities and provide an efficient and safe transport link to Transit New Zealand's State Highway 20 extension.

The project forms a key part of Auckland City Council's transport plan to provide travel choices for Aucklanders. We want to make it easier for people to get around, whether that's by bus, on foot, by bike or in a car.

The council consulted the public on the preferred scheme for the Tiverton Wolverton upgrade and asked for feedback on different aspects of the project in 2004 and 2005, including landscaping and design.

Stage one, between Whitney Street and Blockhouse Bay Road, has been completed and the council is now planning for stage two of the work, widening Wolverton Street and the rest of Tiverton Road to four lanes. This work is due to start in 2011.

As well as widening, the complete $17 million project involves improving traffic safety and pedestrian connections, putting overhead power lines underground, creating on-street parking and landscaping.

There is a lot of road to cover. To find out what will be happening near you in the future, check the map that reflects the part of Tiverton Road or Wolverton Street that interests you.
