Map 1 (Wolverton Street)
Portage Road to Ulster Road
This section of Wolverton Street will be widened to accommodate four traffic
lanes (two eastbound, two westbound) during peak traffic periods. This will
ensure traffic flows more freely at these times, and has been designed to manage
increased traffic in this area.
This section will be further landscaped to tie in with the upgrade of Olympic
Park. On-street parking will continue to be available in off-peak periods.
A small retaining wall will be built on the northern side to accommodate road
widening adjacent to the stream.
New pedestrian refuges will be built to make it safer for people to cross the
road.
Auckland City is working closely with Waitakere City to ensure the upgrade
connects across city boundaries.
