Map 2 (Wolverton Street)
Ulster Road to Taylor Street
This section of Wolverton Road will be widened to accommodate four traffic
lanes (two eastbound,two westbound) during peak periods. Road widening will mainly
be undertaken in the northern side of Wolverton Street.
New pedestrian refuges will be built to make it easier for people to cross
the road. A small retaining wall will be built near the stream to allow for lane
widening.
This section will be further landscaped to tie in with the upgrade of Olympic
Park.
On-street parking will continue to be available in off-peak periods.
Bus-stop facilities will be upgraded at the current location. Buses will stop
on the road rather than in a layby, meaning they will not be delayed by trying to
merge with traffic.
The new road layout will be built so that traffic lights may be installed at
the Taylor Street intersection at a future date.
