The first stage of the Tiverton Road and Wolverton Street upgrade is
completed. Work was carried out on this important $3 million section of the
project between January and August 2007.

Stage one - aerial view
Work involved building two retaining walls along the existing service lane on
the south side of Tiverton Road.
The 4.5m high concrete wall comprises of 40 panels with an undulating design,
which is located at the western end of the service lane, towards Blockhouse Bay
Road. The 1.5m high timber wall is a standard design used in embankments of
limited height and is located at the eastern end of the service lane, near
Whitney street.
These walls support the newly widened section of Tiverton Road, from two
traffic lanes to four. New concrete and steel safety barriers have been built
between the service lane and Tiverton Road.
The grass berm outside properties 7 to 23 Tiverton Road at the western end of
the service lane has been reconstructed and new driveways and a footpath
installed.
Extensive landscaping has been completed, with more than 7,500 native
inspired trees, shrubs and grasses planted along the service lane and at the
corner of Tiverton Road and Whitney Street.
