Map 9 (New Windsor Road)
Tiverton Road to Maioro Street
These sections of Tiverton and New Windsor roads will be widened to
accommodate four traffic lanes (two eastbound,two westbound), helping traffic
flow more freely.
A central median will be installed to increase safety by assisting turning
vehicles. Traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing will be installed at the
intersection of Tiverton and New Windsor Roads. Traffic will be restricted from
turning right into Tiverton Road from New Windsor Road (north).
Transit New Zealand are set to upgrade Maioro Street to four lanes and will
be upgrading the New Windsor Road intersection as part of the SH20 Mt Roskill
extension.
The current bus stop will be relocated slightly south to outside 172 New
Windsor Road and a pedestrian refuge will be installed to assist pedestrians
crossing the road.
This area will be further landscaped making it more attractive, including
undergrounding overhead power and telephone lines.
Traffic calming measures such as speed humps will be installed on New Windsor
Road. Further consultation will be undertaken with owners and residents regarding
the exact locations of the traffic calming measures
