State Highway 20
Mt Roskill extension
NZ Transport Agency has begun construction on the Mt Roskill extension of
State Highway 20, this is the part from Hillsborough Road to Maioro Street. This
extension is a key part of the western ring route.
NZ Transport Agency has contracted Fulton Hogan Ltd to complete the road's construction,
and completion of the four-lane 4km extension, is due in 2009. The extension
will cost around $169 million to complete. Find out more at

The state highway extension will provide considerable relief to local roads
in the Mt Roskill and Avondale areas of the city. These streets currently carry
through traffic from the south-western motorway (SH20) to the CBD and Auckland's
western suburbs.
To support the staged construction of State Highway 20, Auckland City is
planning to develop
Tiverton Road and Wolverton Street.
