Bylaws updates: 6 November 2009
|
The council's bylaws are subject to ongoing review to ensure that they meet
their purpose. It is appropriate that the council considers the effectiveness
and implications of its bylaws continuously and to make amendments where this is
appropriate.

The Bylaw stems from a variety of legislation which empowers councils to
carry out administrative functions not covered under their District Plans. A
bylaw is a rule or regulation made by a local authority which affects the
public, which orders something to be done, or in some cases, not to be done.
