The vision 2040
The Auckland
Waterfront Vision 2040 was jointly developed by Auckland City Council and
Auckland Regional Council with Ports of Auckland in December 2005. It outlines
the planning framework for the whole CBD waterfront area.
The vision was formulated after extensive public consultation. The vision
recognises the CBD waterfront's importance to Auckland and the major role the
port and the marine and fishing industries play in the city's and the region's
economic success. The vision contains key planning and design principles for
specific areas of the waterfront, based on public feedback.
