Introduction

Objective:

To provide a standard of footpath surface suited to the environment that will contribute to the accessibility, safety, amenity and character of Auckland's streets.

Benefits:

  • increased public safety
  • increased usability and enjoyment of the streetscape environment
  • improved quality and maintenance
  • improved local, neighbourhood and citywide linkages
  • equity of quality and amenity across the Isthmus

Outcome:

Footpath surfaces will be safe, firm, even, slip resistant, of quality appearance, and maintained to an appropriate level according to the street type.
