Homeless action plan
Successful prevention and intervention for homelessness relies on a high level
of collaboration and coordination between non-government and statutory agencies.
The first homeless action plan 2005 to 2008 aimed at consolidating this style of
interagency cooperation.
The homeless action plan 2008 to 2013 highlights how different stakeholders with
different business outcomes, can work together so that there are successful outcomes
for homeless clients and for the city generally.
The key intention of the homeless action plan 2008 to 2013 is to move people out
of homelessness into long-term permanent accommodation. The plan addresses the need
to examine different responses to problems so that there are more efficient and
streamlined services that deal with issues that are currently problematic - for
example a tenancy sustainment programme and a Special Circumstances Court.
Auckland City Council appreciates the support and active participation from a
wide range of stakeholders that has made this plan possible.
