Quality of image and sufficient contrast
Ensure that the installed solution is of high quality in terms of visual appeal. Consideration should be given to the following:
- Light levels appropriate for the designated area – not overlit.
- No or very low glare.
- Low sky glow.
- Hierarchy of brightness and intensity with the surrounding environment.
- Correct use of colour where applicable.
- Good control of light sources such as the use of beam control, aiming angles and minimisation of stray light overspill from up-lights.
- Appropriate pole heights for the desired area – e.g. low height for pedestrian designated areas (human scale), higher poles for vehicle areas in scale with the surrounding environment.
