Liquor ban areas

Central city and specific shopping/business areas

The following shopping/business areas have a liquor ban in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


Parks, reserves and associated car parks

Auckland isthmus

A liquor ban will be in place at all parks and reserves, and their associated car parks in Auckland isthmus

  • seven days a week
    • between 10pm to 8am during daylight saving time, and
    • between 8pm to 8am outside daylight saving time.

Please note: where a park or reserve borders a beach, the beach is included in the liquor ban area down to the high tide mark.

Wider Otahuhu area

A liquor ban will be in place in all parks and reserves, and their associated car parks in the wider Otahuhu area

  • 24 hours a day
  • seven days a week

Waiheke Island - beaches, parks and reserves

A liquor ban will be in place at all beaches, parks and reserves on Waiheke Island

  • seven days a week
    • between 10pm to 8am during daylight saving time, and
    • between 8pm to 8am outside daylight saving time.

A liquor ban is also place at the Oneroa business area.

  • seven days a week
    • 24 hours a day

The liquor ban is active in Ocean View Road between the Korora Road and Puriri Road intersections. It includes any public place adjacent to this roading, including the two service lanes running parallel to Ocean View Rd, being, Oneroa Village Lane and the southern service lane and including the Ocean View Rd viewing platform located at 149 Ocean View Road.


Major event liquor ban - Eden Park surrounds

A liquor ban will be in place in the streets surrounding Eden Park, 12 hours before and after any major events held at Eden Park.

Note: a major event is defined by Auckland City Council as one with an expected crowd of greater than 5000 people.


Council car parks (open air and car park buildings)

A liquor ban will be in place at council car parks (open air and car park buildings) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
