| Biodiversity |
the variability among living organisms from all sources. This includes diversity within species, between species and of
ecosystems |
| Environmental Management System |
a management tool which enables an organisation to identify, manage and achieve environmental performance improvements to
reduce the adverse effects of their operations on the environment |
| Levels of service |
describes the types of experiences available within a single park or a group of parks |
| Low impact design |
to design and undertake land development in a way that minimises and mitigates the adverse effects of development on the
environment |
| Management plan |
establishes the desired mix of uses and values for a single park, or a group of parks, and sets in place policy to guide
day to day management |
| Open space network plan |
a local area plan applying and testing the principles of the council's open space framework |
| Ped shed analysis |
a mapping technique that calculates the population catchment within a defined distance, such as a five or eight minutes
walk, from an activity, transport stop or node |
| Standards of provision |
define standards by which we want to provide open space-relating to quality, capacity and accessibility |
| Universal design |
the design of products and the built environment to be usable by as many people as possible regardless of age, ability or
circumstance |
