Orakei Basin management plan

View details of Proposals to develop Orakei Point or proposed plan modification 260 >>

The management plan for the Orakei Basin outlines the general intentions for the use, development, maintenance, protection and preservation of the reserve through a series of objectives and policies.

The plan addresses the management of the water body and the park areas which adjoin the Orakei Basin and Creek, including:

  • Orakei Basin East Reserve
  • Orakei Basin West Reserve
  • MacPherson Street Reserve
  • Bonnie Brae Reserve
  • Kelvin Reserve
  • Meadowbank Reserve

The content of a management plan reflects the issues and characteristics of a particular place. Typically included are objectives and policies relating to matters such as vegetation, access, buildings, leases, desired uses and protecting heritage values. The water bodies of Orakei Basin and Orakei Creek are an important consideration.
