Opportunities for Council
Based on the working relationship between the Rosebank Business Association
and Auckland City, local government has an opportunity to use this approach in
the future when building relationships with business centres across Auckland
City. There exists a significant opportunity for Auckland City to:
To engage in dicussion regarding the report findings on Rosebank Road with
relevant groups within Auckland City to effectively communicate the areas of
concern requiring council attention. These include:
Recreation and Community Services:
- Liaise with Parks and Streetscape Services led by Geoff Matthews the key
contact who is responsible for street cleanliness, graffitti and litter and
refuse and recycling
Council needs to clarify the existing options that are currently available
for large employers and businesses with excessive rubbish and recycling needs.
An opportunity exists to discuss creating and testing a new system designed
with these businesses in mind if the existing systems are not adequate. Any new
system would need to manage the these issues more effectively whilst adhering to
rubbish, recycling environmental standards.
Transport Planning Group: Service Delivery
- Liaise with 'Project Services' led by Viren Sharma the key contact who is
responsible for road widening, new roundabouts or traffic signals and
intersection improvements
- Liaise with 'Traffic Safety Services' led by Karen Hay the key contact who
is responsible for traffic flow management and communities awareness of road
safety
Transport Planning Group: Parking Services
- Liaise with 'Delivery/Planning' led by Donna Holdaway the key contact who is
responsible for interpreting the requirements of the community, key
stakeholders such as the Police and LTSA and parking policies to determine the
best options for delivery
Once initial discussions have taken place with the above groups the next
stage will be to submit the details of the discussions as well as the final
report to the respective committee's responsible for their consideration
The aim is to build new relationships with local business organisations
across the city to facilitate further research on other business centre
locations. This will require contacting existing business associations and
business groups from emerging business centre locations.
An opportunity exists for Auckland City Council to use the information gained
on the Rosebank business centre to conduct further research into how far people
travel to employment centres such as Rosebank. This information would provide
valuable information on peoples driving patterns, providing opportunities to
support and improve the conditions of gaining localised employment thus
encouraging participation between local populations and business. The majority
of Rosebank businesses listed the good local workforce as a location advantage.
