Stormwater asset management plan

Key drivers for Auckland City's stormwater business are:

  • community service - reliable, efficient, economic
  • financial responsibility - transparent, consultative, accountable
  • environmentally responsible - minimising adverse effects on the environment
  • safety - human health and safety
  • achieving strategic goals - to improve the quality of life for people in Auckland City
  • economic efficiency - integrated management, monitoring, planning, prioritising, managing risk and doing proper asset maintenance and renewal.

The stormwater asset management plan's key strategic objectives are to reduce:

  • flooding
  • wastewater overflows
  • contaminants in stormwater.

Other important goals include improving the data collection, asset management and planning process, as well as widening stormwater education and consultation processes. Auckland City is also strengthening the links between its annual planning, sustainable asset management, customer satisfaction and environmental monitoring programmes, and monitors progress towards more sustainable stormwater management.
