Hobson Community Board
Hobson Ward, with a population of 52,000 includes the central business district and residential suburbs of
Parnell, Grafton, Newmarket, Remuera, Epsom and One Tree hill.
The population of the Hobson Ward increased by 20 per cent between 1991 and 1996, mostly as a result of the
success of inner city apartments.
Some of Auckland’s best known parks are located in this ward, including the Auckland Domain, Albert Park and
One Tree Hill. The ward is also home to the Auckland Museum and the Auckland Art Gallery.
The Central Library is located in the Central Business District while there are community libraries
and community centres at Remuera, Parnell and Epsom.
