Tamaki Community Board
The Tamaki community is in the Tamaki/ Maungakiekie Ward, the largest Ward in Auckland City with a population of
79,000. The Tamaki/ Maungakiekie Ward includes the suburbs of Glen Innes, Panmure, Ellerslie, Penrose, Mt. Wellington,
Royal Oak, Onehunga, Oranga, Te Papapa and Otahuhu. It also includes Auckland’s south eastern industrial area, the
country’s largest centre of industry and manufacturing.
Tamaki is the community on the Western banks of the Tamaki River and includes the Pt. England, Maungarei and Panmure
Basin recreational areas. It is the home of the Tamaki campus of the university of Auckland and of the Waipuna Hotel
and Conference Centre.
There are libraries at Glen Innes, Otahuhu and Panmure and other community facilities include Swimarama on the
Panmure Basin Lagoon, the Dunkirk Rd. Activity centre in Panmure, the Riverside Community house, the Otahuhu town
Hall and the Panmure and Glen Innes
