Avondale Community Board
The Avondale community is part of the amalgamated Avondale/Roskill Ward, now the second largest ward in
Auckland city with a population of 76,000. It is by far the ‘longest’ community in the City, stretching
across the isthmus from the upper reaches of the Waitemata Harbour to the Manukau Harbour. While mainly
residential, Avondale includes the employment-rich Rosebank Peninsula industrial area.
The main shopping centres are Avondale and Blockhouse Bay, both of which have community libraries and
community centres. Major parks are Heron Park and the Avondale South Domain.
