  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    The minutes of the Avondale Community Board meeting held on Tuesday, 22 April 2008 to be confirmed as a true and correct record.

  3. Top EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

    Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:
    "An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at that meeting if-
    (a) The local authority by resolution so decides; and
    (b) The presiding member explains at the meeting at a time when it is open to the public,-
      (i) The reason why the item is not on the agenda; and
      (ii) The reason why the discussion of the item cannot be delayed until a subsequent meeting."
    Section 46A(7A) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:
    "Where an item is not on the agenda for a meeting,-
    (a) That item may be discussed at that meeting if-
      (i) That item is a minor matter relating to the general business of the local authority; and
      (ii) The presiding member explains at the beginning of the meeting, at a time when it is open to the public, that the item will be discussed at the meeting; but
    (b) no resolution, decision, or recommendation may be made in respect of that item except to refer that item to a subsequent meeting of the local authority for further discussion."
  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    A period of time (approximately 20 minutes) is set aside for members of the public to address the meeting on matters within its delegated authority. A maximum of 5 minutes per item is allowed, following which there may be questions from members.

    The following requests have been received to address the meeting:

    4.1. AVONDALE ROAD - WARREN SAMUELS

    Warren Samuels wishes to speak to the Board about issues in Avondale Road.

    Recommending that Warren Samuels be thanked for his presentation.

    4.2. SPORT AUCKLAND - SIMON PETERSON

    Simon Peterson, Chief executive of Sport Auckland, will attend to provide an update on Sport Auckland and programmes being run in respective areas.

    Recommending that Simon Peterson, Chief executive of Sport Auckland, be thanked for his presentation and the information provided.

    4.3. AVONDALE CHRISTIAN CENTRE - MARYANNE SCHWENKE

    MaryAnne Schwenke, Avondale Christian Centre, wishes to speak in support of her application for discretionary funding.

    Recommending that MaryAnne Schwenke, Avondale Christian Centre, be thanked for her presentation and that the Board consider the application at item 6.2.

    4.4. AVON/BAY LYNN SCHOOLS' SPORTS GROUPS - LEON MCGIVERN AND JOHN DAVIES

    Leon McGivern and John Davies, Avon/Bay Lynn Schools' Sports Groups, wish to speak in support of their application for discretionary funding.

    Recommending that Leon McGivern and John Davies, Avon/Bay Lynn Schools' Sports Groups, be thanked for their presentation and that the Board consider the application at item 6.4.

  5. Top DEPUTATION - NEIGHBOURHOOD SUPPORT AUCKLAND CITY INC. - KEVIN HICKS

    Kevin Hicks, Chairperson Neighbourhood Support Auckland City Inc. wishes to address the Board about neighbourhood support which encourages citizens to take precautions and co-operate with their neighbours in crime prevention.

    Recommending that Kevin Hicks, Chairperson Neighbourhood Support Auckland City Inc. be thanked for his presentation.

  6. Top REQUESTS FOR FUNDING

    6.1. LOCAL EVENT FUNDING - AVONDALE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

    Attaching a Local Event funding application from Avondale Business Association seeking funding towards the cost of holding an event to celebrate Dale - Avondale's spider's sixth birthday.

    Recommending that the Board consider the application.

    6.2. DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - AVONDALE CHRISTIAN CENTRE

    Attaching a Discretionary funding application from Avondale Christian Centre seeking funding towards the cost of holding a "Light Party" for children on 31 October 2008.

    Recommending that the Board consider the application.

    6.3. DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - ATU PENUPENU

    Attaching a Discretionary Funding application from Atu Penupenu seeking funding towards the cost of hall hire.

    Recommending that the Board consider the application.

    6.4. DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - AVON/BAY LYNN SCHOOLS' SPORTS GROUPS

    Attaching a Discretionary Funding application from Avon/Bay Lynn Schools' Sports Groups seeking funding towards the cost of holding an inter-school gymnastic competition.

    Recommending that the Board consider the application.

  7. Top CENTRE MEDIAN STRIP BARRIERS ON ASH STREET, AVONDALE

    Reporting that Transport safety, assets and operations have developed a school travel plan for Avondale College and Avondale Intermediate School, which is at present pending implementation. The school travel plan includes an education strategy aimed at educating school children in the area to use existing and proposed safe pedestrian routes and facilities to access the school, and to refrain from crossing at various unsafe locations.

    Recommending that the report from the Traffic safety engineer, dated 14 April 2008, be received and that the Board endorse that the matter regarding schoolchildren crossing Ash Street between Great North Road and Rosebank Road be addressed through the school travel plan for Avondale College and Avondale Intermediate School.

  8. Top ROSEBANK FREIGHT MANAGEMENT AND NEIGHBOURHOOD ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

    Providing an update on the progress of the transport activities in the Rosebank Business Precinct.

    Providing Board members and Councillors with the opportunity to update the Board on issues regarding the State Highway 20 Waterview connection tunnel proposal.

  12. Top CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED - AVONDALE RETURNED SERVICES ASSOCIATION

    Correspondence from Avondale Returned Services Association thanking the Board for its 2007/2008 Local Event funding grant of $2000 towards the cost of this year's ANZAC day function.

    Recommending that the correspondence from Avondale Returned Services Association be received.
