    That the item 'Request for discretionary funding- Heritage section of Auckland City Libraries' be considered as extraordinary business at item 15 for the reason that the funding is required for workshops on 8 and 9 July 2008 and the next meeting of the Avondale Community Board is on 22 July 2008.

    There were no requests to speak in public forum on this matter.

    4.2. BLOCKHOUSE BAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY INC. - PAM HARPHAM

    Pam Harpham, Blockhouse Bay Historical Society, spoke to the Board in support the Society's application for discretionary funding.

    That Pam Harpham be thanked for her presentation and that the Board consider the application at item 6.2.

    4.3. AVONDALE PRINCIPALS - SOUTH WEST CLUSTER - JOHN DAVIES

    John Davies, Avondale Principals - South West Cluster, spoke to the Board in support of the Cluster's application for discretionary funding.

    That John Davies, Avondale Principals - South West Cluster, be thanked for his presentation and that the Board consider the application at item 6.4.

  5. Top REQUEST FOR LOCAL EVENT FUNDING

    Moved: Duncan Macdonald / Noelene Raffills

    1. That the Local Event funding application from Blockhouse Bay Mainstreet Association Inc. seeking funding towards the cost of holding a farmers style market, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $1050 ($350 each for the next three events) from its 2007/2008 Local Event funding budget to Blockhouse Bay Mainstreet Association Inc. for funding towards the cost of holding a farmers style market.
    3. That Blockhouse Bay Mainstreet Association Inc. be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Local event funding grant of $1050.

    Board member Paul Davie requested his vote against the above resolutions to be recorded.

  6. Top REQUESTS FOR DISCRETIONARY FUNDING

    6.1. AVONDALE LIONS CLUB

    1. That the Discretionary funding application from Avondale Lions Club seeking funding towards the cost of purchasing a dishwasher for use in their hall, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $600 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary funding budget to Avondale Lions Club for funding towards the cost of purchasing a dishwasher for use in their hall.
    3. That Avondale Lions Club be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary funding grant of $600.

    Secretarial note: The Chairperson declared a conflict of interest, being the proprietor of Avondale Appliance Centre Lt, which had provided the quotation to the applicant, and Councillor Noelene Raffills took the Chair for this item.

    6.2. BLOCKHOUSE BAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY INC.

    Moved: David Hay / Noelene Raffills

    1. That the Discretionary funding application from Blockhouse Bay Historical Society Inc. seeking funding towards the cost of purchasing a swivel chair and voice recorder, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $362 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary funding budget to Blockhouse Bay Historical Society Inc. for funding towards the cost of purchasing a swivel chair and voice recorder.
    3. That Blockhouse Bay Historical Society Inc be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary funding grant of $362.

    6.3. AVONDALE DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP

    1. That the Discretionary funding application from Avondale Diabetes Support Group seeking funding towards the cost of producing a monthly newsletter, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $250 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary funding budget to Avondale Diabetes Support Group for funding towards the cost of producing a monthly newsletter.
    3. That Avondale Diabetes Support Group be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary funding grant of $250.

    2. That the Board grants $750 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary funding budget to Avondale Principals - South West Cluster for funding towards the cost of holding information seminars for principals.

    3. That Avondale Principals - South West Cluster be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary funding grant of $750.

    That the Avondale Community Board request that the Methuen Road footpath upgrade, between Bollard Avenue and Blockhouse Bay Road, be added to the planned footpath upgrades in 2009/2010.

    Board member Paul Davie moved the following amendment, which was seconded by Kathryn Davie:

    That the Avondale Community Board request officers to investigate the state of Methuen Road footpath, between Bollard Avenue and Blockhouse Bay Road, and report back to the Board at its 22 July 2008 meeting.

    Chairperson Duncan Macdonald moved the following amendment, which was seconded by Paul Davie:

    That the Avondale Community Board recognise the Friends of Oakley Creek as a key stakeholder in the development of Oakley Creek catchment.
