  6. Top DOG ACCESS TO BEACHES AND HERON PARK

    2. That the Avondale Community Board makes the following recommendations to the dog policy and dog control bylaw hearings panel:
      1. That Blockhouse Bay Beach should be available between 7 pm and 9 am during the summer period for dog off-leash exercise;
      2. That Sandy Bay Beach should be available for dog off-leash exercise all the time;
      3. That there should be better signage for dog off-leash exercise areas and more doggie doo dispensers available at rubbish bins on all beaches.

  7. Top REQUESTS FOR LOCAL EVENT FUNDING

    7.1. AVONDALE UNION PARISH

    Moved: Duncan Macdonald/Noelene Raffills

    1. That the local event funding application from the Avondale Union Parish seeking funding towards the costs of a community Christmas carol evening at the Rosebank Peninsula Church, to be held on 21 December 2008 at 7pm, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $2,300 from its 2008/2009 local event funding budget to the Avondale Union Parish towards the costs of a community Christmas carol evening at the Rosebank Peninsula Church, to be held on 21 December 2008 at 7pm.
    3. That the Avondale Union Parish be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the local event funding grant of $2,300.

    7.2. AVONDALE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

    Secretarial note: The Chairperson declared a conflict of interest, being the Chairperson on the Avondale Business Association, and in the absence of the Deputy Chairperson, Lily Ho, Cr Noelene Raffills took the chair for this item. Duncan Macdonald neither spoke nor voted on this item.

    1. That the local event funding application from the Avondale Business Association seeking funding towards the costs of the Avondale Market Day (Fun Day 2009), to be held on 14 March 2009, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $3,500 from its 2008/2009 local event funding budget to the Avondale Business Association towards the costs of the Avondale Market Day (Fun Day 2009), to be held on 14 March 2009.
    3. That the Avondale Business Association be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board, commenting on the number of attendees at the Fun Day 2009, following expenditure of the local event funding grant of $3,500.

    Paul Davie moved the following amendment, which was seconded by Kathryn Davie:

    1. That the Board grants $2,000 from its 2008/2009 local event funding budget to the Avondale Business Association towards the costs of the Avondale Market Day (Fun Day 2009), to be held on 14 March 2009.
    2. That the Avondale Business Association be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board, commenting on the number of attendees at the Fun Day 2009, following expenditure of the local event funding grant of $2,000.

    Voting on the amendment was TIED with 2 votes for and against. The Chairperson exercised her casting vote against the amendment. The amendment was declared LOST by 3 votes to 2.

    The Chairperson put the substantive motion:

    1. That the local event funding application from the Avondale Business Association seeking funding towards the costs of the Avondale Market Day (Fun Day 2009), to be held on 14 March 2009, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $3,500 from its 2008/2009 local event funding budget to the Avondale Business Association towards the costs of the Avondale Market Day (Fun Day 2009), to be held on 14 March 2009.
    3. That the Avondale Business Association be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board, commenting on the number of attendees at the Fun Day 2009, following expenditure of the local event funding grant of $3,500.

  8. Top NOTICE OF MOTION - AVONDALE COMMUNITY POOL TO BE RETAINED IN LTCCP

    1. That the Avondale Community Board requests that the Avondale Community Pool project be retained in the long term council community plan (LTCCP).
    2. That the resolution of the Avondale Community Board be forwarded to the Arts, Culture and Recreation committee prior to the October LTCCP direction setting meeting.
