CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
The
minutes of the Eden/Albert Community Board meeting held on Wednesday, 28 March
2007 to be confirmed as a true and correct record.
EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings
Act 1987 (as amended) states: |

"An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at
that meeting if- |
|
(a) |
The local authority by resolution so decides; and |
|
(b) |
The presiding member explains at the meeting at a time when it is open
to the public,- |
|
|
(i) |
The reason why the item is not on the agenda; and |
|
|
(ii) |
The reason why the discussion of the item cannot be delayed until a
subsequent meeting." |

That item may be discussed at that meeting if- |

that item except to refer that item to a subsequent meeting of the local

PUBLIC FORUM
A
period of time (approximately 20 minutes) is set aside for members of the public
to address the meeting on matters within its delegated authority. A maximum of
5 minutes per item is allowed, following which there may be questions from
members.
The
following requests have been received to address the meeting:
4.1. SPEED CALMING MEASURES ON GRIBBLEHIRST ROAD & ELIZABETH STREET –
MATTHEW ADAMS
Matthew Adams will speak on behalf of residents of Gribblehirst Road and
Elizabeth Street who wish to have speed calming measures installed.
4.2. COMMUNITY SAFETY IN MT ALBERT – RAEWYN READE
Raewyn Reade will speak to her attached submission.

Advising of the case reported in the New Zealand Herald regarding the building
of a new home on the slopes of Mt St John and allegations that council staff
were dismissive of the Act as being 'irrelevant' in any consideration regarding
building on volcanic cones.
Recommending that the Board express its concerns regarding officer's comments
and seek confirmation regarding organisational response to the 1915 Act and its
provisions, in particular, details of how the Act will be considered in any
planning applications made within the vicinity of the Maungawhau Mt Eden and
Owairaka Mt Albert.

2007 Local Government NZ conference will be held in Dunedin from 15-18 July
2007.
Keynote speakers include Sir Michael Lyons, strategic advisor to the British
Government and the author of "Lyons inquiry" into the role and funding of local
government in the United Kingdom; Sherri Torjman, Vice President of the Caledon
Institute of Social Policy and one of Canada's leading social commentators, and
David Shand, Chair of the Local Government Rates Inquiry.
Recommending that the Board consider whether it wishes to send a
representative[s] to this conference.

take a year to complete.

Board may notice a change in the budgets for some projects since the February
meeting. The reason for this is that all SLIPs proposals were reviewed to take
account of movements in market costs or changes of scope.
Recommending that the Board allocate funding and nominate a spokesperson for
each project.
