MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE

GREAT BARRIER COMMUNITY BOARD

HELD ON MONDAY, 12 NOVEMBER 2007 AT 10.00 AM

[Secretarial note: The democracy advisor chaired the meeting for items 1, 2, 3 and 4. From item 5 onwards, the newly elected chairperson chaired the meeting. The General Manager, City Development administered the members' declarations].

1. APOLOGIES

   There were no apologies.

2. DECLARATION BY COMMUNITY BOARD MEMBERS PURSUANT TO SCHEDULE 7, CLAUSE 14, OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2002

   The following Community Board Members made their declarations pursuant to Schedule 7, Clause 14, of the Local Government Act 2002:

   Mr Paul Downie

   Ms Izzy Fordham

   Mr Mickey O'Shea

   Cr Denise Roche

   Mr Richard Somerville-Ryan

   Ms Christina Spence

3. ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON

   The Democracy advisor called for nominations for Chairperson of the Great Barrier Community Board. There was one nomination.

   Moved: Somerville-Ryan/O'Shea

   That Paul Downie be appointed as Chairperson of the Great Barrier Community Board.

   CARRIED

   Board Member Fordham requested her vote against the motion be recorded.

4. DECLARATION BY CHAIRPERSON PURSUANT TO SCHEDULE 7, CLAUSE 14, OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2002

   The Chairperson made his declaration pursuant to Schedule 7, Clause 14 of the Local Government Act 2002 and assumed the chair.

5. DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON

   The Chairperson called for nominations for the position of Deputy Chairperson. There was one nomination.

   Moved: O'Shea/Somerville-Ryan

   That Izzy Fordham be appointed as Deputy Chairperson of the Great Barrier Community Board for the 2007 - 2010 term.

   CARRIED

6. GENERAL EXPLANATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION

   Moved: Downie/Somerville-Ryan

   1. That the general explanation of Local Government Legislation including laws affecting Community Boards be noted.
   2. That the Team manager, City Development, be thanked for his presentation.

   CARRIED

7. FIRST MEETING OF THE GREAT BARRIER COMMUNITY BOARD

   Moved: Downie/Fordham

   That the first meeting of the Great Barrier Community Board be held on Monday, 26 November 2007 in The Marion Barleyman Cottage, 2 Moana View Road, Okupu commencing at 10:00 am and the general nature of the business to be brought before that meeting be notified in the agenda.

   CARRIED

8. DECLARATION OF RESULTS OF ELECTION

   Moved: Downie/O'Shea

   That the Electoral Officer's official declaration of Results of Election and the confirmation of Councillor appointments to Community Boards be noted.

   CARRIED

   There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 12:00 pm.
