  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    4.1. ROB MCCARTHY -- ELLERSLIE SPORTS CLUB INCORPORATED

    Rob McCarthy, representing Ellerslie Sports Club Incorporated, spoke to the Board regarding the Michaels Avenue Reserve - Draft Landscape Master Plan. A letter from the Assistant Landscape Architect, dated 17 July 2007, inviting the Ellerslie Sports Club (incorporating Ellerslie Association Football Club) to participate in a key stakeholder meeting, and documents outlining the concerns of the Ellerslie Association Football Club with the Michaels Avenue Reserve - Draft Landscape Master Plan were tabled at the meeting.

    That Rob McCarthy, Ellerslie Sports Club Incorporated, be thanked for his presentation to the Maungakiekie Community Board regarding the Michaels Avenue Reserve - Draft Landscape Master Plan, and that the Board notes the letter from the Assistant Landscape Architect, dated 17 July 2007, inviting the Ellerslie Sports Club (incorporating Ellerslie Association Football Club) to participate in a key stakeholder meeting, and request Board representation at this meeting.

    4.2 AMANDA KINZETT -- ONEHUNGA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

    Amanda Kinzett, Manager, Onehunga Business Association, spoke to the Board regarding the poor state of footpaths in Onehunga, the installation of CCTV in the Upper Municipal bus shelters outside of the Onehunga Community Library, the use of advertising speakers on Main Street and the Fairy Lights SLIPs project.

  5. Top POLICE ACT REVIEW - SENIOR SERGEANT HIRONE WARETINI

    1. That Senior Sergeant Hirone Waretini be thanked for his presentation to the Maungakiekie Community Board regarding the Police Act Review and Policing Directions in New Zealand for the 21st Century.
    2. That the Maungakiekie Community Board nominates Board members Insull and Livingstone to prepare a submission on behalf of the Board for the Police Act Review, noting submissions close on 31 July 2007.

    A letter of correspondence from Terry Daly, dated 19 July 2007 in response to the report of the Senior Traffic Engineer, was tabled at the meeting.

  7. Top REVIEW OF 2007/2008 SLIPS FUNDING

    1. That the Maungakiekie Community Board thank the SLIPs Coordinator for her attendance at the meeting.
    2. That the Maungakiekie Community Board's resolution B, item 5 of the meeting held 19 April 2007, approving projects for 2007/2008 SLIPs budget allocation and nominating Board members as spokespersons for each project, be revoked.
    3. That the Maungakiekie Community Board approves the following projects for 2007/2008 SLIPs budget allocation and nominates the named Board members as spokesperson for each project:

    1. That the resolutions of the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee, dated 9 July 2007, be noted.
    2. That the Maungakiekie Community Board nominates Board members Clark and Insull to prepare a submission once the Michaels Avenue Reserve - Draft Landscape Master Plan is open to public consultation.
    3. That the Maungakiekie Community Board notes its priority to promote the Michaels Avenue Reserve area for organised sports activity and to maximise sports field coverage.
    4. That these resolutions be forwarded to the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee.

  10. Top RESOLUTIONS FROM THE ARTS, CULTURE AND RECREATION COMMITTEE - SWIMMING POOL PRICING POLICY

    1. That the resolutions of the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee, dated 9 July 2007, be noted.
    2. That the Maungakiekie Community Board would like the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee to note its concern with the increase in swimming pool prices, in particular the rise in children's prices and would prefer to see an increase in subsidy.

    11.1. MULTI-EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT AND SERVICES TRUST

    That the Discretionary Funding application from the Multi-Educational Support and Services Trust, seeking funding of $1,812.00 to assist in the cost of establishing a homework group centre to help children and their families in the Onehunga area, be received.

    A copy of the presentation given at the North Auckland and Northland Grid Upgrade Assessment of Options meeting hosted by Transpower on 13 July 2007 was tabled at the meeting.

    2. That the Maungakiekie Community Board notes the Chairperson's submission to the Transpower North Auckland and Northland Grid Upgrade Assessment of Options, dated 13 July 2007, and in particular, that the Maungakiekie Community Board notes their support of Option 1.

    A copy of the Maungakiekie Community Board's submission in support of Plan Modification 220 Isthmus District Plan, 69 Captain Springs Road, was tabled at the meeting.

    • · Ellerslie theatrical production of "Theft";
    • · Cycleway link from Mangere Bridge to the start of the new Waikaraka cycleway;
    • · Michaels Avenue Reserve sportsfield development;
    • · The creation of cycleways on Mays Road, Mt Smart Road and Ladies Mile; and
    • · Discretionary funding for the replacement of the Ellerslie Mural.

    Board member Livingstone reported on the following items:

    • · Onehunga Community House meeting; and
    • · Personal submission to Transpower application for resource consent to increase the rating of the Henderson - Otahuhu transmission line.

    Board member Clark reported on the following items:

    • · Attendance at the Onehunga Combined Sports Trust meeting;
    • · Submission on Plan Change 220 for Captain Springs Road; and
    • · Poor behaviour of Oranga School students.

    That the verbal report of the Board members be received.
