MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE MT ROSKILL COMMUNITY BOARD

HELD ON TUESDAY, 17 JUNE 2008 AT 6.30PM

  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    That the minutes of the Mt Roskill Community Board meeting held on Tuesday, 20 May 2008 be confirmed as a true and correct record.

  3. Top EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

    There was no extraordinary business.

  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    4.1. ZOE HAMPTON AND ADRIAN SIONEPULU - YOUTHLINE

    Ms Hampton and Mr Sionepulu gave an outline of the Unity/Standing Tall programme run by Youthline and spoke about Youthline's contact with Mt Roskill Grammar School. Youthline believed Mt Roskill Grammar School were interested in having the programme run at their school.

    Moved: Barter/ Turnbull.

    That Ms Hampton and Mr Sionepulu be thanked for their presentation to the Board regarding the Youthline application for discretionary funding.

    4.2. DOMINION ROAD SCHOOL - MS MARIAN CAULFIELD

    Ms Caulfield, Principal of Dominion Road School spoke about the community spirit of Dominion Road School and how the school encourages the public to use the school facilities as they believed it enhances the safety of the school. Ms Caulfield felt the seating asked for in the discretionary funding application would encourage families to make more use of the school.

    That Ms Marian Caulfield be thanked for her presentation to the Board regarding the Dominion Road School application to provide appropriate seating near and around the school pool, field and playgrounds for adults and children to observe physical activity taking place.

  5. Top SMALL LOCAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT PROPOSALS (SLIPS) 2008/2009

    Moved: Barter/Taylor-Raffills

    1. That the memorandum of the SLIPS Co-ordinator dated 5 June 2008 be received.
    2. That the Board recommend the following projects from stage 1 to be vetted by relevant council officers:
      • Hendry Reserve Pathway Installation
      • Keith Hay Park Noton Road Car Park gate
      • Lynfield Reserve Playground Upgrade
      • Manukau Foreshore Pine Removals Stage 5 Reserve
      • Manukau Foreshore Walkway Signage Stage 1 -
      • Mt Roskill Tree Planting
      • Wesley Community Centre Playgroup Area Development Stage 2 of 2
    1. That the Board defer the following projects for further information:
      • Manukau Foreshore Community Pest Control Programme continuation
      • Margaret Griffin Park Implementation

  6. Top LIBRARY AKOZONE HOMEWORK CENTRE AT WESLEY INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

    That the report dated 23 May 2008 from the Community Libraries Manager be received.

  7. Top PROPOSAL FOR OPENING WALMSLEY/UNDERWOOD PATHWAY

    Moved: Barter/Raffills-Taylor.

    1. That the Mt Roskill Community Board endorse the proposed Small Local Improvement Project opening event for the Walmsely/Underwood pathway.
    2. That the Chairman, Richard Barter and Board Members Taylor-Raffils and Turnbull be appointed to a working party to prepare for the opening event for the Walmsely/Underwood pathway.

  8. Top DISCRETIONARY FUNDING

    8.1. YOUTHLINE AUCKLAND

    Moved: Taylor/Turnbull

    That the discretionary funding application from Youthline Auckland be declined at this stage, as no letter of support from Mt Roskill Grammar School had been provided.

    8.2. DOMINION ROAD SCHOOL

    Moved: Barter/ Raffills-Taylor.

    1. That the discretionary funding application from Dominion Road School be received.
    2. That the Board approves the allocation of $4595.00 from its 2007/2008 discretionary funding budget to Dominion Road School to provide appropriate seating near and around the school pool, field and playgrounds for adults and children to observe physical activity taking place, subject to acknowledgement of the Boards contribution to this programme.
    3. That Dominion Road School provide an accountability statement following expenditure of the $ 4595.00.
