MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE MT ROSKILL COMMUNITY BOARD

HELD ON TUESDAY, 16 SEPTEMBER 2008 AT 6.30PM

    4.2. MT ROSKILL BAPTIST CHURCH CHILDRENS MINISTRY - ANDREA MCNICKLE

    Ms McNickle spoke of the success of the light party held in 2007 and tabled photos of the event.

    Mr Austen Bell spoke of his concern regarding the care of the archaeological features on Big King and tabled papers regarding the Halswell Quarry Park in Christchurch and the Te Puna Quarry Park in Tauranga which he felt were good examples of what can be done with a quarry and tabled papers regarding this.

    1. That the Programme advisor, community capacity be thanked for her work on the local fund allocation application and that her report dated 28 August 2008 be received.
    2. That the Mt Roskill Community Board approves the following allocations from its 2008/2009 community board local funding budget:

    Parents Inc $600.00 To deliver the 'X-Factor' and 'Hardwired' presentations to Mt Roskill Grammar students and to fund 'Attitude' books.
    Poonga (Tamil Community Education) $800.00 To purchase a digital camera and laptop.
    Probasee Bengalee Assn of New Zealand Inc $800.00 To purchase and install a projector and computer.
    Roskill Community Trust $2,000.00 To fund volunteer training and to purchase parenting books and a hands free microphone.

    Somali Concern Refugee and Migrant Organisation Inc

    $1,200.00 To fund volunteer training, mileage, expenses and recognition.
    Somali Federation Community Inc $1,000.00 To fund the development of a group to teach the Somali language to youth and airtime for a radio programme.
    Three Kings United Football Club Inc $2,000.00 To purchase training bibs, goalie gloves, corner flags and cones.
    Umma Trust, The $1,000.00 Costs associated with holding fortnightly meetings.
    Waiata Tennis Club Inc $1,600.00 To fund coaching for members under 9 years old.
    Winstone Park Tennis Club Inc $2,000.00 To fund junior development coaching programmes.
    Women's Empowerment Foundation "The Trust" $700.00 To fund volunteer mileage and training and to purchase a desktop and laptop computer and a fax.
     Total $25,000.00

  6. Top DOG ACCESS TO BEACHES AND MONTE CECILIA PARK

    1. That the Mt Roskill Community Board recommends to the dog policy and dog control bylaw hearings panel by 30 September 2008:
      1. That the south west side of the beach from the boat ramp at Waikowhai Bay should be available at some time during the summer period for off-leash dog exercise and
      2. That there should not be specific dog beaches on the Isthmus available for dogs all the time and;
      3. That there be restricted off leash exercise areas for dogs on beaches.
    2. That the Mt Roskill Community Board does not believe that the Monte Cecilia park should be designated as a dog exercise area.

  7. Top 2009 COMMUNITY BOARDS CONFERENCE AND BEST PRACTICE AWARDS

    This item was deferred until the 9 October 2008 Mt Roskill Community Board meeting.

  8. Top GOOD CITIZEN/VOLUNTEER AWARDS

    Moved: Taylor-Raffills/Mulrennan

    1. That a working party consisting of Board members Turnbull and Mulrennan and Councillor Lister be delegated to consider whether the Mt Roskill Community Board should hold a good citizen/volunteer awards event.
    2. That if a good citizen/volunteer awards event is to be held, the working party also consider the selection criteria, timing, regularity and format for such an event.

  9. Top SCHEDULING OF PROTECTED TREES

    That the Mt Roskill Community Board include database costs for Mt Roskill data, a Mt Roskill specific website and customised flyers for setting up street groups in the use of the $3000.00 discretionary funding allocated to the Neighbourhood Support Auckland City Inc. Society at the 15 April 2008 meeting.

  11. Top DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - HILLSBOROUGH PLAYCENTRE

    1. That the discretionary funding application from Hillsborough Playcentre be received.
    2. That the Board approves the allocation of $1692.00 from its 2008/2009 discretionary funding budget to Hillsborough Playcentre for the repairs of the sandpit cover and shade sail.
    3. That the Hillsborough Playcentre provide an accountability statement following expenditure of the $ 1692.00.

  12. Top EVENT FUNDING - MT ROSKILL BAPTIST CHURCH CHILDRENS MINISTRY

    1. That the local Event Funding application from Mt Roskill Baptist Church Children's Ministry seeking funding towards the cost of holding a Light Party on 31 October 2008, be received.
    2. That the Board grants $500.00 from its 2008/2009 Local Event Funding budget to Mt Roskill Baptist Church Children's Ministry as funding towards the cost of holding a Light Party on 31 October 2008.
    3. That the Mt Roskill Baptist Church Children's Ministry be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Local Event Funding grant of $500.00.
