MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE TAMAKI COMMUNITY BOARD

    4.1. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - ESTHER THOMAS, MANAGER YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

    Esther Thomas, Manager Youth Development addressed the Board in support of her application for discretionary funding towards the costs of travel for social workers to work with young offenders and their families.

    That Esther Thomas, Manager Youth Development be thanked for her presentation in support of the Youth Development Programme's application for discretionary funding.

    4.2. GLEN INNES BUSINESS ASSOCIATION - ADRIANA BADER, MAINSTREET COORDINATOR

    Adriana Bader addressed the Board in support of her application for Discretionary Funding towards the cost of hosting the Glen Innes Children's Fun day.

    She advised the Board of urgent and appropriate action by the Council regarding health and safety issues with the public toilet at Glen Innes.

    1. That Adriana Bader, Mainstreet Coordinator be thanked for her presentation in support of the Glen Innes Business Association's application for discretionary funding.

    2. That the issues raised by Glen Innes Business Association be referred to the Democracy Advisor for action and report back to the Board at the June meeting.

    4.3. BAILEY ROAD SCHOOL - DEREK LININGTON, PRINCIPAL

    Derek Linington, Principal Bailey Road School addressed the Board in support of his application for discretionary funding towards the cost of purchasing a barcode scanner.

    4.4. ISLAND CHILD CHARITABLE TRUST NZ - DANIELLE BERGIN

    Danielle Bergin addressed the Board in support of her application for discretionary funding towards the costs of purchasing a heater, dehumidifier and linen for the emergency housing centre.

    4.5. KIDSCAN CHARITABLE TRUST - CARL SUNDERLAND

    Carl Sunderland, Kidscan Charitable Trust addressed the Board in support of his application for discretionary funding towards the costs of providing raincoats to disadvantaged children in the Tamaki area.

    4.6. EXCELSIOR CHALLENGE GROUP, OTAHUHU - DR KAREN DOBRIC

    Dr Karen Dobric addressed the Board in support of her application for Discretionary Funding towards the costs of hosting a voluntary, non-competitive programme of leisure activities designed to offer a personal and individual challenge for young people.

    4.7. OTAHUHU UNITED ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL AND SPORTS CLUB INC. - HELEN KEEGAN

    Helen Keegan addressed the Board in support of her application for discretionary funding towards the costs of purchasing a DVD/VCR recorder for coaching purposes.

    Chris Sutton addressed the Board in support of her application for discretionary funding towards the costs of hosting the Instant Finance King of the Mountain held on Sunday, 6 July 2008.

    That Chris Sutton be thanked for her presentation in support of the Progressive Panmure Business Association's application for discretionary funding.

    4.9. SOUTH AUCKLAND INCOME PLANNING SERVICES INC. - LYNETTE BURTON

    Lynette Burton addressed the Board in support of her application for discretionary funding towards the costs of purchasing office products to assist in the provision of budgeting services to individuals and families.

    Margaret Fitzgibbon addressed the Board in support of her application for discretionary funding towards the costs of purchasing stationery and refreshments for Glen Innes HIPPY meetings.

    Nihini Wirihana addressed the Board in support of her application for discretionary funding towards the costs of developing and delivery breast awareness programmes in the Tamaki region for Maori women and their whanau.

    6.1. BAILEY ROAD SCHOOL - REQUEST FOR DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - DEREK LININGTON, PRINCIPAL

    1. That the Board grants $431.44 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary Funding budget to the Bailey Road School for the costs of purchasing a barcode scanner.

    2. That the Bailey Road School be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary Funding grant of $431.44.

    6.2. ISLAND CHILD CHARITABLE TRUST NZ - REQUEST FOR DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - DANIELLE BERGIN

    1. That the Board grants $500 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary Funding budget to the Island Child Charitable Trust NZ for the purchasing of an oil column, dehumidifier and linen for the emergency housing centre.

    2. That the Island Child Charitable Trust NZ be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary Funding grant of $500.

    6.3. KIDSCAN CHARITABLE TRUST - REQUEST FOR DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - CARL SUNDERLAND

    1. That the Board grants $500 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary Funding budget to the Kidscan Charitable Trust for the provision of raincoats to disadvantaged children in the Tamaki area.

    2. That the Kidscan Charitable Trust be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary Funding grant of $500.

    1. That the Board grants $500 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary Funding budget to the Progressive Panmure Business Association for the costs of hosting the Instant Finance King of the Mountain held on Sunday, 6 July 2008.

    2. That the Progressive Panmure Business Association be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary Funding grant of $500.

    1. That the Board grants $500 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary Funding budget to the South Auckland Income Planning Services for the costs of purchasing of office products for the provision of budgeting services to individuals and families.

    2. That the South Auckland Income Planning Services Inc be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary Funding grant of $500.

    2. That the Tukaha Wahine Hauora Trust be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Board following expenditure of the Discretionary Funding grant of $500.

    7.2. CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED - AUSTRALASIAN FEDERATION OF FAMILY HISTORY ORGANISATION (AFFHO)

    That the correspondence from the Australasian Federation Of Family History Organisation (AFFHO), thanking the board for the funding grant of $500 towards the costs promoting the study of family history, encourage preservation of records and advance the education and awareness of family links and heritage, be received.

    8.1 DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - PANMURE COMMUNITY ACTION GROUP

    That the Board grants $200 from its 2007/2008 discretionary funding budget to the Panmure Community Action Group to cover the costs of photocopying, postage and the group's assistance towards the Board's Royal Commission community meetings.

    8.2 MAYORS TASKFORCE FOR JOBS

    1. That the Tamaki Community Board write to the Mayor expressing its dissatisfaction with the reasons given for the Auckland City Council withdrawing from the Mayors Taskforce For Jobs.
    2. That the Mayors Taskforce For Jobs be advised that the Tamaki Community Board has offered to pay the annual subscription fee $200 from its discretionary funding and noting that the cadets funding is not included.
    3. That the Tamaki Community Board requests a response from officers explaining the reasons why the Auckland City Council has withdrawn from the Mayors Taskforce For Jobs and outline the ramifications and effects will have on future Ministry Social Development youth transitions project funding in the Tamaki ward.
