    4.1. SCHIZOPHRENIA FELLOWSHIP AUCKLAND INC. - REQUEST FOR DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - ASHLEY INNES

    This item has been withdrawn.

    4.2. Royal New Zealand Plunket Society - Request for Discretionary Funding - Marilyn Hemming

    Ms Marilyn Hemming, Royal New Zealand Plunket Society, addressed the Board regarding the renovation of the Grey Lynn Community Centre and costs associated with temporarily relocating the Society to St Columbia church, and requesting assistance with costs to retain the same telephone number, as Plunket services approximately 2000 people from the community.

    That Ms Marilyn Hemming, Royal New Zealand Plunket Society, be thanked for her presentation in support of the Society's application for Discretionary Funding for the costs of moving and disconnection/reconnection of their telephone line.

    4.3 PINE TREES IN WESTERN SPRINGS LAKESIDE PARK - ELIZABETH RADFORD

    Elizabeth Radford addressed the Board regarding the pine trees in Western Springs Lakeside Park.

    4.4 MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL IN WESTERN SPRINGS LAKESIDE PARK - PETER STONEHAM, UNDERGROUND TRAILBLAZERS (UTB)

    Mr Peter Stoneham, Underground Trailblazers (UTB) addressed the Board regarding the mountain bike trail in Western Springs Lakeside Park.

  5. Top ILLEGAL MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL IN WESTERN SPRINGS LAKESIDE PARK

    Mark Bowater, Manager Park Services, Bernie Mapps, Recreation Planner, and Graham Marchant, Park Adviser were in attendance to provide the Board with current updates with regards to the illegal mountain bike trail in Western Springs Lakeside Park and the Western Springs pines trees.

    1. That the Western Bays Community Board endorses Council's current approach to treat the mountain bike trail in Western Springs Lakeside Park as illegal and to take appropriate legal measures to prevent the trail from being rebuilt.
    2. That the Western Bays Community Board support the earliest possible start to a mountain bike trail in Auckland, once the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee resolves the most appropriate site.

  6. Top TREECARE SERVICES LTD - WESTERN SPRINGS LAKESIDE PARK

    1. That the Western Bays Community Board notes the report of Treecare Services Limited - Western Springs Lakeside Park, Stand of pines - Review of tree safety, dated November 2006.
    2. That the Western Bays Community Board notes Policy 7 of the Western Springs Lakeside Park Plan (1995), "to progressively replace the pines trees adjoining the Western Springs Stadium with a native podocarp forest".
    3. That the Western Bays Community Board regrets the imminent loss of the Western Springs pines as a significant feature in the local landscape, but welcomes the opportunity to achieve the long term goal of returning this area to a native forest of similar landscape value.
    4. That the Western Bays Community Board request that work on planning the replanting and redevelopment of the area now occupied by the Western Springs pines be given urgency.
    5. That the Western Bays Community Board notes the keen interest of local residents in the replanting of the bush in the area now occupied by the Western Springs pines, and its long term care, and therefore request that resource consents relating to the removal of the Western Springs pines be publicly notified.
    6. That the Western Bays Community Board requests that Board members and the local residents group, 'Friends of the Bush' be involved as key stakeholders in drafting a detailed plan for replanting and developing the area now occupied by the Western Springs pines.
    7. That the Western Bays Community Board requests consultation amongst the wider community on the draft plan for replanting and developing the area now occupied by the Western Springs pines.
    8. That the above resolutions be forwarded to the Group Manager, Arts Community and Recreation Services and to the Auckland Zoo Director, with copies to the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee and the Zoo Enterprise Board.

  7. Top PT CHEVALIER AND THREE HERNE BAY BEACHES REPLENISHMENT PROGRAMME

    Lorenzo Canal, Consultant, addressed the Board regarding the Pt Chevalier and three Herne Bay beaches replenishment programme.

    1. That the report of the Group Manager, Transport Infrastructure Delivery, dated 8 August 2007, be received, and that Lorenzo Canal, Consultant be thanked for his presentation.
    2. That the Western Bays Community Board endorses the sand replenishment of Pt Chevalier beach, Herne Bay beach, Hamilton Reserve beach and Sentinel Reserve beach.

  8. Top REPORT FROM THE URBAN STRATEGY AND GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE - PROPOSED ISTHMUS DISTRICT PLAN REVIEW AND IMPACT ON LIVEABLE COMMUNITY PLAN PROCESS

    1. That the report of the Group Manager, City Planning, dated 16 July 2007, be received, and that the resolutions of the Urban Strategy and Governance Committee, dated 2 August 2007, be noted.
    2. That the Western Bays Community Board request a brief report outlining specific implications for growth areas in the Western Bays ward, due to the proposed isthmus district plan review and impact on the liveable community plan process.

  9. Top 2007/2008 Discretionary Funding

    9.1. SCHIZOPHRENIA FELLOWSHIP AUCKLAND INC. - REQUEST FOR DISCRETIONARY FUNDING - ASHLEY INNES

    That the application for discretionary funding from the Schizophrenia Fellowship Auckland Incorporated be deferred to the September meeting of the Western Bays Community Board, following investigations by Board members Kate Stanton and Bruce Kilmister to identify area specific needs of the organisation.

    9.2. Royal New Zealand Plunket Society -Request for Discretionary Funding - Marilyn Hemming

    1. That the Discretionary Funding application from the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society seeking funding towards the cost of moving and reconnecting the telephone line, be received.
    2. That, should alternative relocation funds not be available, the Western Bays Community Board grants $520 from its 2007/2008 Discretionary Funding budget to the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society for the cost of moving and reconnecting the telephone line.
    3. That, should Discretionary Funding be provided, the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society be requested to provide an accountability statement to the Western Bays Community Board following expenditure of the Discretionary Funding grant of $520.
