MINUTES OF THE INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE WESTERN BAYS COMMUNITY BOARD HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 7 NOVEMBER 2007 AT 6.30 PM

  1. Top APOLOGIES

    An apology from Board member Jo Robertson for non-attendance, was received.

  2. Top DECLARATION BY COMMUNITY BOARD MEMBERS PURSUANT TO SCHEDULE 7, CLAUSE 14, OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2002

    The following Community Board Members made their declarations pursuant to Schedule 7, Clause 14, of the Local Government Act 2002:

    • Councillor Graeme Easte
    • Mr Leigh Kennaway
    • Mr Bruce Kilmister
    • Councillor Greg Moyle
    • Ms Kate Stanton
    • Mr Paul Stephenson

    CARRIED

  3. Top ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON

    The Democracy advisor called for nominations for Chairperson of the Western Bays Community Board.

    One nomination

    There was one nomination, that of Bruce Kilmister. There being no other nominations the Democracy advisor put the motion.

    Moved: Kennaway/ Stanton

    That Bruce Kilmister be appointed as Chairperson of the Western Bays Community Board for the 2007-2010 term.

    CARRIED

  4. Top DECLARATION BY CHAIRPERSON PURSUANT TO SCHEDULE 7, CLAUSE 14, OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2002

    The Chairperson, Bruce Kilmister, made his declaration pursuant to Schedule 7, Clause 14 of the Local Government Act 2002 and assumed the chair.

    CARRIED

    Secretarial Note: The Chair delivered a speech thanking the Board for appointing him as the Chair of the board.

  5. Top DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON

    The Chairperson called for nominations for the position of Deputy Chairperson.

    One nomination

    There was one nomination, that of Leigh Kennaway. There being no other nominations the Chairperson put the motion.

    Moved: Kilmister/ Councillor Easte

    That Leigh Kennaway be appointed as Deputy Chairperson of the Western Bays Community Board.

    CARRIED

  6. Top GENERAL EXPLANATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION

    Moved: Kilmister/ Kennaway

    1. That the general explanation of Local Government Legislation including laws affecting Community Boards be noted.
    2. That Anusha Guler, Team manager, Transport and Finance, be thanked for her presentation.

  7. Top FIRST MEETING OF THE WESTERN BAYS COMMUNITY BOARD

    Moved: Kilmister/ Councillor Moyle

    That the first meeting of the Western Bays Community Board be held on Tuesday, 20 November 2007 in the Auditorium, Freemans Bay Community Hall, 52 Hepburn Street, Freemans Bay, commencing at 6.30pm and the general nature of the business to be brought before that meeting will be notified in the agenda.

  8. Top DECLARATION OF RESULTS OF ELECTION

    Moved: Kilmister/ Stanton

    That the Electoral Officer's official declaration of Results of Election and the confirmation of Councillor appointments to Community Boards be noted.

    CARRIED

    There being no further business the Chairperson declared the meeting closed at 6:57pm.
