  5. Top CREATIVE COMMUNITIES FUNDING ROUND NOVEMBER 2008

    James Beaumont
    Arts and Funding Advisor 11 November 2008

    Reporting on the first of two rounds of funding for the 2008/2009 financial year.

    Creative New Zealand's allocation formula provides council with a total of $225,640 to support opportunities for New Zealanders to participate in the arts in their local area over the 2008/2009 financial year. For this November 2008 round, the budget available comprises:

    • 50% of the total fund, which is $112, 820;
    • less $5,641 for promotion and administration of the fund;
    • plus the addition of $6,303.79 returned and unallocated funds;
    • leaving a balance of $113,482.79 to allocate.

    Of the 100 applications received, the assessment team recommends 37 applications for funding totalling $105,323.06. The Auckland University of Technology has requested further funding to the value of $5,610 for a further Business of Arts series. The topics covered in the series include funding, publicity and promotion in the arts and budgeting. The remainder of unallocated funds to the value of $2,549.73 can be allocated by the Sub-committee or rolled over to the first round of 2009.

    Recommending that the Sub-committee approves the recommendations as recorded in appendix two and three, and that the Sub-committee approves $5,610 for a second Business of Arts seminar series, noting that the support is tagged to the continued involvement of Auckland City Council in the development of the seminar series.
