    4.1. YOUTH ELECTORAL ENROLMENT - DANA WALKER

    Moved: Sam Beanland / Alice Wang

    1. That Dana Walker be thanked for her presentation regarding a dedicated youth enrolment drive to get 17-24 year olds enrolled to vote.
    2. That Youth Council members accept the challenge to assist in the youth enrolment drive by helping five 17-24 year olds to become enrolled to vote.

  5. Top COMMUNITY BOARD REPRESENTATIVES UPDATE

  6. Top PROGRAMME ADVISOR - YOUTH REPORT

    That the memorandum dated August 2008 from the Programme Advisor, Youth be received.

  7. Top YOUTH COUNCIL ASSESSMENT

    That the Youth Council Assessment project team hold a focus group meeting next week to discuss the review of Youth Council.

  8. Top SWIMMING POOL FEEDBACK

    Moved: Sam Beanland / Catherine Tamaseu-Russell

    That Youth Council suggest the following ways to engage youth to provide feedback on Auckland City Council's swimming pool plan:

    • Seek feedback from existing pool users
    • Form partnerships with other organisations and programs such as SPARC (Push Play programme), 'AKActive' (involving Auckland City Council, SPARC, Sport Auckland, Procare Network Auckland and YMCA) and 'Surf Lifesaving NZ'
    • Seek feedback from swimming/surf clubs and beach users
    • Encourage youth and public to participate in swimming lessons

  9. Top ANNUAL PLAN SUBMISSION RESPONSE

    The Chairperson foreshadowed the following motion, in the event that the motions below should be lost:

    That Youth Council wishes to advise the Group Manager, Democracy Services that the response to Youth Council's submission to Auckland City Council's Draft Annual Plan 2008/2009 does not specifically address the issues that were raised.

    2. That the Youth Council Converse Project team draft a memorandum addressed to the Community Board Youth Council spokespersons and Auckland schools advising of the goals, objectives and achievements of Converse 2008.

  12. Top YOUTH COUNCIL WEB PAGES PROJECT UPDATE

    1. That the information regarding the Youth Council web pages project be received.
    2. That Youth Council members suggest the following ideas for an updated Youth council web page:
      • A more colourful and vibrant design
      • Simplistic design for ease of use
      • Links to blogs, reporting on projects, upcoming events and members' profiles
      • The web page should be more aimed at youth
      • The web page should contain more relevant and less repetitive information
      • Ensure that the new web site is advertised to reach its target audience

    • Attendance at the 'Our Street' theatre production
    • Attendance at Family Planning Council meeting in Wellington
    • Youth Council members attendance at Community Board and Council meetings

    Prospective Youth Council member Sam Gregory regarding:

    • Participation in an AUT University research project into the leisure needs of youth on Waiheke Island.

    Youth Council member Jayran Mansouri regarding:

    • Hosting a movie night for 'Youth Week'.

    Youth Council member Dexter Henderson regarding:

    • Attendance at road safety project meetings
    • Attendance at website project meetings
    • Sports - rugby referee

    Youth Council member Kathryn Mitchener regarding:

    • Ways to promote/advertise and encourage participation by youth to attend or get involved in Auckland City Youth Council

    Youth Council member Rebecca Kennedy regarding:

    • Involvement with school academic council on youth awareness of environmental issues and current events.
    • Attendance at road safety project meetings

    Youth Council member Xinan Zhang regarding:

    • Volunteers Services Association fundraising.

    Youth Council member Alice Wang regarding:

    • Participation in classical music concert
    • Addressing school assembly on involvement with Youth Council

    Youth Council member Sung-Ju Baek regarding:

    • Attendance at the 'Our Street' theatre production
    • Organising school ball

    Youth Council member Simon Matāfai regarding:

    • Entertainment show judging (talent quest, choir groups and beauty pageant)
    • Attendance at classical music concert
    • 'Daffodil Day' fundraising by Rotaric group
    • Attendance at an indigenous rights debate, Dr Brash vs Dr Sharples, organised by Amnesty Group
