MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE
ZOO BOARD
HELD ON THURSDAY, 22 MAY 2008 AT 12:35PM

  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    That the minutes of the Zoo Board meeting held on Thursday, 20 March 2008 be confirmed as a true and correct record.

    There was no extraordinary business.

    There were no requests to speak in public forum.

  5. Top REPORTS REQUESTED/PENDING

    1. That the reports requested/pending report of the Democracy Coordinator, dated 15 May 2008, be amended as follows:
    Row Target Date Report Title Reason for Changing Target Date
    2 From May 08 now July 08 Draft Asset Management Plan (was entitled Aquarium/Function Centre Business Case) These issues will be investigated as part of the impending review of capital plans. The asset management plan will likely be available in July 2008 for reporting to the August 2008 meeting of Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee. This gives the Zoo Board the opportunity to comment before the August meeting of ACR.
    3 From TBA to July 08 Auckland Zoo - Impact of Regional Funding Initiative The Select Committee considering the Regional Funding Bill will have reported their findings to Parliament by that time.
    1. That the General Manager, Arts Community and Recreation, be requested to report to the Zoo Board clarifying the role and function of the Board and of council's expectations resulting from that role and function.

  6. Top AUCKLAND ZOOLOGICAL PARK PROGRESS REPORT MARCH - APRIL 2008

    1. That the report of the Director, Auckland Zoo, dated 22 May 2008, be received.
    2. That the Zoo Board pass on thanks to the 164 Auckland Zoo volunteers for their most valued and necessary work.

  7. Top AUCKLAND ZOO CONSERVATION POLICY - PALM OIL INFORMATION CAMPAIGN

    1. That the report of the Conservation Officer, dated 13 May 2008, be received.
    2. That the Zoo Board approves the continuation of the Auckland Zoo's palm oil information campaign.
    3. That the Zoo Board's input and approval be sought on such issues prior to the Auckland Zoo commencing such information campaigns.

  8. Top EXCLUSION OF THE PUBLIC : LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL INFORMATION AND MEETINGS ACT 1987

    That the public be excluded from the following part(s) of the proceedings of this meeting.

    The general subject of each matter to be considered while the public is excluded, the reason for passing this resolution in relation to each matter, and the specific grounds under Section 48(1) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 for the passing of this resolution are as follows:

    In particular, the report contains commercially sensitive information, that if released, would have a negative impact on the operation of the entity.

    The public conduct of the part of the meeting would be likely to result in the disclosure of information for which good reason for withholding exists under section 7.

    C2 Report on Zoo Admissions Prices Public conduct of matter would be likely to result in disclosure of information for which good reason to withhold exists under section 7. Section 7(2)(h)

    To enable the Council to carry out, without prejudice or disadvantage, commercial activities.

    In particular, the report contains commercially sensitive information, that if released, would have a negative impact on the operation of the entity.
