  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    That the minutes of the Zoo Board meetings held on Thursday, 21 May 2009 and Monday, 15 June 2009, be confirmed as true and correct records.

  3. Top EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

    The chairperson of the Zoo Board sought leave to introduce an extraordinary item of business under the confidential section of the meeting, i.e. Appointment of an Additional Co-opted member to the Zoo Board.

    This matter had not been included on the agenda as it had not been possible to notify the proposed applicant of the intention to consider them for the position.

    That an item of extraordinary business regarding the appointment of an additional co-opted member to the Zoo Board be considered at agenda item C4 of the confidential agenda of this meeting.

    There were no requests to speak in public forum.

  5. Top AUCKLAND ZOOLOGICAL PARK PERFORMANCE REPORT JULY 2008 - JUNE 2009

    1. That the Auckland Zoological Park Performance Report July 2008 - June 2009, from the Zoo director, dated 10 July 2009, be received.
    2. That the Zoo director, Senior Management team, staff and volunteers be congratulated for a successful year despite difficult economic conditions.

  6. Top ENDORSEMENT FOR AUCKLAND ZOOLOGICAL PARK BUSINESS PLAN 2009-2010

    That the Board endorses the Auckland Zoological Park Business Plan 2009 / 2010, from the Capital works and business manager, dated 14 July 2009.

  7. Top AUCKLAND ZOO CONSERVATION POLICY - MARINE CONSERVATION AND PALM OIL INFORMATION CAMPAIGNS

    Items 7.1 and 7.2 of the agenda were considered together.

    1. That the Auckland Zoo Conservation Policy, Marine Conservation Information campaign, from the Conservation officer, dated 1 July 2009, be received.
    2. That the Zoo Board approves the development of a marine wildlife conservation information campaign, providing links between the zoo's Sealion Shores exhibit and support for relevant field conservation efforts.
    3. That the Zoo Board notes the continuation of the palm oil information campaign.

  8. Top ZOO BOARD DELEGATIONS

    1. That the Zoo Board Delegations report, from the Solicitor, dated 13 July 2009, be received.
    2. That the Zoo Board approves the amendments to the Zoo Board delegations as itemised at Appendix 2 - Amended Zoo Board Delegations.
    3. That it be a recommendation to Council that the Zoo Board delegations as amended at Appendix 2 - Amended Zoo Board Delegations, be adopted.

  9. Top EXCLUSION OF THE PUBLIC : LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL INFORMATION AND MEETINGS ACT 1987

    That the public be excluded from the following part(s) of the proceedings of this meeting.

    The general subject of each matter to be considered while the public is excluded, the reason for passing this resolution in relation to each matter, and the specific grounds under Section 48(1) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 for the passing of this resolution follows.

    This resolution is made in reliance on Section 48(1)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and the particular interest or interests protected by section 6 or section 7 of that Act which would be prejudiced by the holding of the whole or relevant part of the proceedings of the meeting in public, as follows:

    The withholding of the information is necessary to enable the local authority to carry out, without prejudice or disadvantage, commercial activities.

    In particular, the report contains commercially sensitive information, that if released, would have a negative impact on the operation of the Zoo.

    The public conduct of the part of the meeting would be likely to result in the disclosure of information for which good reason for withholding exists under section 7.

    C2 Endorsement for Confidential Auckland Zoological Park Business Plan 2009 - 2010 Public conduct of matter would be likely to result in disclosure of information for which good reason to withhold exists under section 7. Section 7(2)(h)

    The withholding of the information is necessary to enable the local authority to carry out, without prejudice or disadvantage, commercial activities.

    In particular, the report contains commercially sensitive information, that if released, would have a negative impact on the operation of the Zoo.

    Section 48(1)(a)

    The public conduct of the part of the meeting would be likely to result in the disclosure of information for which good reason for withholding exists under section 7.

    C3 Update from the Auckland Zoo Charitable Trust Public conduct of matter would be likely to result in disclosure of information for which good reason to withhold exists under section 7. Section 7(2)(b)(ii)

    The withholding of the information is necessary to protect information where the making available of the information would be likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or who is the subject of the information.

    In particular, the report contains sensitive information relating to the delivery of specific outcomes with a third party and a benefactor that, if released to the public, could negatively impact on the operation of the Zoo.

    Section 48(1)(a)

    The public conduct of the part of the meeting would be likely to result in the disclosure of information for which good reason for withholding exists under section 7.

    C4 Appointment of a New Co-opted Member to the Zoo Board Public conduct of matter would be likely to result in disclosure of information for which good reason to withhold exists under section 7. Section 7(2)(a)

    The withholding of the information is necessary to protect the privacy of natural persons.

    In particular, the report contains specific personal information about the proposed appointee.
