  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    The minutes of the Environment, Heritage and Urban Form Committee meeting held on Friday, 1 December 2006 to be confirmed as a true and correct record.

  3. Top EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

    Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:

    "An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at that meeting if-

    (a)

    The local authority by resolution so decides; and

    (b)

    The presiding member explains at the meeting at a time when it is open to the public,-

     

    (i)

    The reason why the item is not on the agenda; and

     

    (ii)

    The reason why the discussion of the item cannot be delayed until a subsequent meeting."

    Section 46A(7A) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:

    "Where an item is not on the agenda for a meeting,-

    (a)

    That item may be discussed at that meeting if-

     

    (i)

    That item is a minor matter relating to the general business of the local authority; and

     

    (ii)

    The presiding member explains at the beginning of the meeting, at a time when it is open to the public, that the item will be discussed at the meeting; but

    (b)

    no resolution, decision, or recommendation may be made in respect of that item except to refer that item to a subsequent meeting of the local authority for further discussion."

    A period of time (approximately 20 minutes) is set aside for members of the public to address the meeting on matters within its delegated authority. A maximum of 5 minutes per item is allowed, following which there may be questions from members.

    In May 2005 the Mayoral Task Force on Urban Design delivered "Designing Auckland: a springboard for action". The paper identifies a series of actions to improve council's urban design policies and processes, as well as to engage the larger community in understanding and supporting the benefits of a more sustainable urban form in the city. This report outlines quarterly progress made of implementing the Task Force.

    Recommending that the progress on actions identified by the Mayoral Task Force on urban design in Year 2 be noted.

  12. Top ICLEI OCEANIA CONFERENCE 2007

    1. That the Committee approves the attendance of one Councillor at the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives conference to be held in Melbourne from 2-5 May 2007.
    2. That the attendee at the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives conference be determined at the Committee's February 2007 meeting.

    Recommending that a councillor be appointed to represent the Auckland City Council at the conference.
