The Chairman opened the meeting at 1.30 pm

That the meeting be adjourned until 1.50pm in order for the Urban Strategy and Governance meeting to be completed.

  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    That the minutes of the Environment, Heritage and Urban Form Committee meeting held on Friday, 11 May 2007, be confirmed as a true and correct record.

  3. Top EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

    That an item of extraordinary business regarding the appointment of an independent commissioner to the hearings panel for the Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan be considered as extraordinary business at agenda item C1 for the reason that should the committee agree to this appointment, the Finance and Corporate Business committee would need to consider unbudgeted expenditure at its next meeting as the panel will commence hearings immediately following the August meeting of the Environment, Heritage and Urban Form Committee.

    4.1. HAURAKI GULF ISLANDS DISTRICT PLAN - CHRIS WRAGGE

    That Christopher Wragge, Pirihira Kaio and Lauren Maser be thanked for their presentation regarding the appointment of an independent commissioner to the hearings panel for the Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan.

  6. Top PREFERRED CONCEPT OPTION FOR MT MAUNGAWHAU - MT EDEN

    1. That a public consultation process be undertaken on the concept of a visitor centre at Tahaki Reserve West.
    2. That a public consultation process be undertaken on the transport modes of a light weight electric vehicle, which can be used to move people from the visitor centre to the summit, be recommended, the committee noting that while the options of cable or monorail or a personalised transport system are still canvassed in the public consultation, these are not modes that the committee favours.
    3. That further work, including furthering design options, full costing and operational model development, and detailed feasibility analysis leading to the development of a final proposal to be reported back through Council, via the Environment Heritage and Urban Form Committee.

  7. Top QUARTERLY PROGRESS REPORT ON MAYORAL TASK FORCE ON URBAN DESIGN

    That progress on actions identified by the Mayoral Task Force on Urban Design in Year 2 Quarter 4, as per appendix 1 of the report of the Urban Design Group Manager dated 13 July 2007, be noted.

  8. Top AUCKLAND HERITAGE FESTIVAL 2007 UPDATE

    Events Organiser, Meredyth Morgan, tabled a list of events included in the Heritage Festival programme.

    That the report of the Events Organiser dated 21 June 2007 be received.
