  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    That the minutes of the Partnerships Committee meeting held on Monday, 13 March 2006 be confirmed as a true and correct record.

  3. Top EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

    There was no extraordinary business.

  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    4.1. DAVID BREUER REPRESENTING 'ANEW NZ'

    That David Breuer and Natalie Morgan representing 'Anew NZ', be thanked for their presentation.

    That item 8 be considered at this point.

  5. Top REPORTS REQUESTED/PENDING

    That the report from the Committee Manager dated 3 May 2006 outlining reports requested and pending be received.

  6. Top MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF PACIFIC ISLAND AFFAIRS AND AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL

    1. That the Partnerships Committee note that the Chief Executive Officers of Auckland City and the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs are signing a Memorandum of Understanding which is intended to:
    1. foster cooperative and supporting working relationships;
    2. promote and implement any projects which parties agree will provide mutual benefits;
    3. work in partnership;
    4. be proactive in volunteering information;
    5. maintain open and clear lines of communication; and
    6. be responsible for keeping the other party informed.
    1. That the last bullet point of section 2.1 of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs and Auckland City Council be updated to read "guide our central and local government working relations at both policy and operational levels".

  7. Top UPDATES: INTERFAITH DIALOGUE AND STAKEHOLDER LIAISON

    1. That the report of the Community Engagement Manager dated 18 April 2006 on Interfaith Dialogue and Stakeholder Liaison be received.
    2. That the Partnerships Committee notes the dates for the Interfaith Workshop (31 May 2006), the Faith / Media Forum (June, date tba) and International day of Peace (21 September 2006).
    3. That liaison with social and service organisations be progressed through a series of presentations to the Partnerships Committee.
    4. That officers report further progress of the interfaith project and other stakeholder liaison at the November 2006 meeting.

  8. Top iworldpeople website

    That Karen Bridgmann, Operations Director, iworldpeople New Zealand Limited, be invited to present to the Partnership Committee meeting to be held in July 2006.

  9. Top JAPANESE WHALING

    That the Partnerships Committee expresses its concern, and the concern of the community, at the whaling activities carried on by Japan and that the Mayor write to Japanese Ambassador with copies to the Mayors of our sister cities in Japan.

  10. Top UPDATE: PARTNERSHIPS COMMITTEE ISSUES AND POTENTIAL WORKSTREAMS

    1. That the update on the following items from the Chairman be received:
    1. Pacific Peoples Participation Project;
    2. Possible Symposium on Ageing;
    3. Engaging with the Community;
    4. The Banabans.
    1. That a working party be set-up consisting of Councillors Northey and Abel, and volunteers from the Community Development and Equity Committee (to be advised following their May 2006 meeting), to progress the Symposium on Ageing.

    CARRIED

    There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 3.05pm.
