  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    4.1MARION HANCOCK - PEACE FOUNDATION

    That Marion Hancock, The Peace Foundation, be thanked for her presentation in support of Auckland City becoming a peace city.

    CARRIED

    That Item 6 be taken at this point.

  5. Top REPORTS REQUESTED PENDING

    That the report from the Democracy Advisor, dated 7 May 2007, outlining reports requested and pending be received.

  6. Top PROPOSAL FOR Auckland to be declared a peace city

    The Chairperson moved:

    1. That the report from Councillor Richard Northey, dated 7 May 2007, be received.
    2. That the Partnerships Committee recommend to Council that it declare Auckland City a Peace City.

    Cr Milne moved the following amendment:

    1. That officers report back to the Partnerships Committee on the budget implications of Auckland City becoming a Peace City and positive actions that could result from this declaration.

    A division was called for, voting on which was as follows:

    The amendment was declared LOST 7 votes to 3 votes.

    Cr Hucker moved the following by way of addition:

    C. That officers report back to the Partnerships Committee on the positive actions and initiatives to implement Auckland City as a Peace City and the budget implications.

    The Chairperson incorporated the above resolution into the substantive motion.

    The Chairperson moved the following substantive motion in parts:

    1. The Chairperson moved that the report from Councillor Richard Northey, dated 7 May 2007, be received.

    CARRIED

    1. That the Partnerships Committee recommend to Council that it declare Auckland City a Peace City.

    CARRIED

    Councillor Leighton, Councillor Milne and Councillor Mulholland requested their votes against resolution B be noted.

    1. That officers report back to the Partnerships Committee on the positive actions and initiatives to implement Auckland City as a Peace City and the budget implications.

  7. Top COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS UPDATE

    The Community partnerships manager tabled an updated report which is attached.

    1. Recommending that the report of the Community Partnerships Manager, dated 29 April 2007, be received.
    2. That matters discussed within the Community Partnerships update be shared with the community through Cityscene.

  8. Top INCLUSIVE AUCKLAND POLICY

    1. That the report of the Strategic Planning Manager, dated 30 April 2007, be received.
    2. That the Partnerships Committee recommend to Council; That Council adopt the Inclusive Auckland policy, and officers implement any actions emanating from the new policy.

    CARRIED

  9. Top UPDATE REPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS DIVISION

    That the report of the International Affairs Manager, dated 30 April 2007, be received.

    CARRIED

  10. Top pacific Islands board - auckland city partnership and funding

    This item was withdrawn.

    There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 3.24 pm
