EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS
Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:
"An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at
that meeting if-
-
The local authority by resolution so decides; and
-
The presiding member explains at the meeting at a time when it is open
to the public,-
-
The reason why the item is not on the agenda; and
-
The reason why the discussion of the item cannot be delayed until a
subsequent meeting."
Section 46A(7A) of the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:
"Where an item is not on the agenda for a meeting,-
-
That item may be discussed at that meeting if-
-
That item is a minor matter relating to the general business of the
local authority; and
-
The presiding member explains at the beginning of the meeting, at a
time when it is open to the public, that the item will be discussed at the
meeting; but
-
no resolution, decision, or recommendation may be made in respect of
that item except to refer that item to a subsequent meeting of the local
authority for further discussion."
AOTEA CENTRE ARTWORK DECOMMISSION "KARANGA" BY WINIFRED BELCHER

Reporting that the October 2003 Recreation and Events Committee
recommended that the artwork "Karanga" by Winifred Belcher be
decommissioned and stored for eventual relocation or sale. The University of
Auckland sought to include the artwork in their collection as either a gift
or on a loan basis and have the agreement of the artist Winifred Belcher to
do so.
Recommending that the artwork "Karanga" by Winifred Belcher be loaned
to the University of Auckland for placement in the new foyer entrance of the
School of Engineering library for a period of ten years (renewable).
CHINESE NEW ZEALANDERS MILLENIUM TRUST SCULPTURE

Reporting that the Hobson Community Board at its meeting on 8 February
2005 endorsed the proposed re-location of the Millenium Tree sculpture to
the Auckland Domain and that the cost of this be allocated from the SLIPS
fund.
Recommending that the Public Art Sub-Committee endorse the new location
of the Millenium Tree in the Domain.

TAI TUTAKI SCULPTURE PROJECT WEST AUCKLAND SCULPTURE TRUST

Reporting that the Avondale Community Board resolved at its meeting on 28
September 2004 that the Board express its support to the West Auckland
Sculpture Trust for the construction of Tai Tutaki sculpture on the bridge
between Ash Street and Rata Street in Avondale. The project managers have
progressed the required resource consent with Auckland Regional Council for
the work to be erected on the Auckland City side of the Ash Street bridge.
Recommending that the final contract documentation between Council and
the organising sponsor, West Auckland City Trust, with respect to the Lucy
Luxton and Antonio Walmsley sculpture (Tai Tutaki sculpture) and its
placement and ongoing maintenance on the Ash Street Bridge be approved by
the Chairperson of the Public Art Sub-Committee and the Director Planning
Services.
