  2. Top CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

    The minutes of the Public Art Sub-Committee meeting held on Wednesday, 27 September 2006 to be confirmed as a true and correct record.

  3. Top EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS

    Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:

    "An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at that meeting if-

    (a)

    The local authority by resolution so decides; and

    (b)

    The presiding member explains at the meeting at a time when it is open to the public,-

     

    (i)

    The reason why the item is not on the agenda; and

     

    (ii)

    The reason why the discussion of the item cannot be delayed until a subsequent meeting."

    Section 46A(7A) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (as amended) states:

    "Where an item is not on the agenda for a meeting,-

    (a)

    That item may be discussed at that meeting if-

     

    (i)

    That item is a minor matter relating to the general business of the local authority; and

     

    (ii)

    The presiding member explains at the beginning of the meeting, at a time when it is open to the public, that the item will be discussed at the meeting; but

    (b)

    no resolution, decision, or recommendation may be made in respect of that item except to refer that item to a subsequent meeting of the local authority for further discussion."

  4. Top PUBLIC FORUM

    A period of time (approximately 20 minutes) is set aside for members of the public to address the meeting on matters within its delegated authority. A maximum of 5 minutes per item is allowed, following which there may be questions from members.

    The following requests have been received to address the meeting:

    4.1. VALERIE THOMPSON - 'RAINBOW WARRIOR' SERIES OF PAINTINGS

    Valerie Thompson wishes to address the sub-committee regarding the future of the 'Rainbow Warrior' series of paintings, presently being stored at the Maritime Museum, painted in 1986 by artist Nelson Thompson and gifted to Auckland City.

    Recommending that Valerie Thompson be thanked for her presentation to the sub-committee regarding the future of the 'Rainbow Warrior' series of paintings.

    Reporting on the accession into Council's public art collection the tile art mosaics by artist Kate Millington, located at 571 Great North Road, jointly funded by Auckland City and Samson Corporation.

    Recommending the accession into Council's public art collection the tile art mosaics, jointly funded by Samson Corporation and Council, located at 571 Great North Road, and that a letter of agreement is formulated detailing maintenance and Council's public art works policy and guidelines, a letter of thanks sent to Samson Corporation, and the resolutions and report forwarded to Western Bays Community Board.

  7. Top JEFF THOMSON SCULPTURE WAIHEKE

    Reporting on the request from the Sculpture on the Gulf organisers for the temporary removal of the Jeff Thomson corrugated iron sculpture "Contour" on Waiheke Island.

    Recommending that the Jeff Thomson sculpture "Contour" be temporarily removed by Sculpture on the Gulf from its current location for the 5 week duration of the 2007 exhibition beginning 15 January 2007 and that all associated costs be covered by Sculpture on the Gulf, and that the resolutions and report be forwarded to the Waiheke Community Board for its information.

  8. Top REMOVING AND RELOCATING QUEEN STREET MURAL PANELS

    Reporting on the consultation process in removing and relocating the Queen Street mural panels as part of the Queen Street streetscapes upgrade project, and seeking approval to progress.

    Recommending the approval of the proposal to resite and install eight mural panels into the Onehunga Bay Reserve, and four mural panels into the Church Street/Beachcroft Avenue roundabout, Onehunga, with the remaining seven mural panels being stored until sites are found, and the approval of the disposal of the Great Spotted Kiwi and Brown Kiwi and Beetles mural panels due to extensive damage sustained in their current location rendering them unsuitable for relocation into a public space, and that the report by the Arts Project Manager, dated 7 November 2006 be forwarded to the Hobson Community Board for their information.
